ApEn

ApEn is designed for studying the stress behavior of children with ASD in the context of homeschooling. It aims to interpret children's s stress levels regarding the detected pressure of handwriting and handholding when ApEn is in use.

In order to study children's behavior with the design intervention, ApEn is embedded with two different modules: Feedback and Feedforward, which give users different light and haptic reactions with the purpose of raising their awareness of the stress state and further supporting to cope with stress.

As a part of the IoT ecosystem in the future, ApEn is a connected product designed as a part of the IoT ecosystem, can provide contextual data and collaborate with other data streams such as physiological data in terms of stress. In this way, a context-aware IoT system can be built to better monitor the stress state in children with ASD.

Question

  • What implicit communication of stress is,  What behaviors are associated with stress?

  • How to detect stress behaviors/stress expressions with everyday objects?

  • How an everyday object can respond to stress expression/behaviors by providing interactive feedback to help children with ASD be aware of stress levels and supports in its reduction?
